A friendly reminder that for every shift you'll have codes within the Qwick for Business app that professionals need to input when clocking in and out, so please be sure to use those to ensure the utmost timekeeping accuracy.

Our business partners are responsible for helping ensure that professionals accurately record time worked in Qwick’s app, including overtime hours worked. If you believe a professional has not recorded their time correctly, please instruct them to do so and contact us at 79425 as soon as possible.

Overtime

Am I responsible for paying for overtime?

We pay our W-2 professionals for all overtime hours worked as required pursuant to applicable law. Qwick covers the cost of weekly overtime, and we do not pass those costs on to our business partners.

**Daily Overtime: CA and CO Only

In California and Colorado, where there are daily overtime laws, our business partners are responsible for paying for daily overtime plus a 35% markup unless negotiated otherwise. You will only be charged for daily overtime if the entire duration of your shift results in the professional going into daily overtime.

Daily overtime business responsibility

Businesses are responsible for paying any worked time on their shift that exceeds 8 hours in one workday.

Businesses are responsible for paying any worked time on their shift that exceeds:

  • 12 hours in one workday

  • 12 consecutive hours regardless of when the workday begins or ends

Example

  • 12:00pm: Professional clocks into shift and begins work

  • 4:30-5:00 pm: Unpaid 30-minute meal break8:46pm: Professional clocks out of shift

The professional has worked a total of 8 hours and 16 minutes. The 16 minutes over 8 hours is considered daily overtime, and the business is responsible for paying this overtime at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay plus a 35% markup.

  • 10:00am: Professional clocks into shift

  • 4:30-5:00 pm: Unpaid 30-minute meal break

  • 11:37pm: Professional clocks out of shift

The professional has worked a total of 13 hours and 7 minutes. The 1 hour and 7 minutes over 12 hours is considered daily overtime, and the business is responsible for paying this overtime at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay plus a 35% markup.
