If the shift is canceled or ends early
You’ll be paid for the length of the original shift (up to four hours) if either of the following happens to you:
A business cancels a shift you have elected to work within 24 hours of the start time of the shift.
You show up on time and your work meets the expectations of the shift, but the business no longer needs your assistance and sends you home early due to no fault of your own.
Please note: Minimum payments are forfeited if you’re sent home for not meeting the shift requirements. This can include wearing the wrong attire, arriving late, failing to perform job duties, and more.
Below are some examples of this policy:
Scheduled Shift | Professional Action | Business Action | Minimum Paid to Professional |
Shift of more than 4 hours | Shift not yet worked | Business cancels the shift within 24 hours of the start time | 4 hours |
Shift of less than 4 hours | Shift not yet worked | Business cancels the shift within 24 hours of the start time | You will be paid for the full scheduled shift |
Shift of more than 4 hours | Professional works more than 4 hours | Business sends professional home early for business reasons (not for professional failure to meet expectations) | You will be paid for total time worked |
Shift of less than 4 hours | Professional works some portion of the shift | Business sends professional home early for business reasons (not for professional's failure to meet expectations)
| You will be paid for total time worked |
Any shift | Professional shows up late or does not meet performance expectations | Business sends professional home early for showing up late or failing to meet expectations of the role | No minimum paid |
If the shift starts early or runs late
If a business or manager asks you to start early or stay past the original shift end time, please ensure you are clocked in the entire duration to ensure you’re paid for total time worked. After clocking out, you’ll be able to select whether you prefer Standard or Instant Pay.
